Sweet and Salty
I absolutely love the combination of sweet and salty!
When I was a child, I remember our family would get in the pickup truck on Sunday evenings and just ride on the country roads. My dad would drive, my mom in the passenger seat, and my brother and I would sometimes ride in the back bed (I know). But before we embarked on this journey, we always stopped at the local “mom and pop” store, and we were allowed to get a snack and “drink” which is a cola of some sort.
My dad and I always went for a salty potato chip and a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. He got one cup and I got the other. This is where my fondness for sweet and salty was born. The trips seemed like “nothing special” at the time but now that I have grown up, lived life, lost loved ones, I cherish those memories. I think life is really lived in the “no big deal” moments.
But any-hoo, I have been enjoying this combination for years and have successfully passed it on to my family. Give this recipe a try and then leave me a comment on what you thought about it. Share with me some of your food related special memories.
