“The Missing Birthday Card”

Isn’t it funny how the smallest things can hold the greatest meaning? Sometimes, we don’t realize the power of a simple card until it’s no longer there.

If you’re from the Brantley County area, chances are you’ve been touched by one of Diane’s heartfelt cards at some point. For her, sending cards wasn’t just a habit; it was a genuine expression of love and affection. Be it your birthday, your anniversary, or just a day when you needed a little pick-me-up, Diane was always there in spirit, reminding you that you mattered.

Tomorrow marks Frankie’s birthday. As he settled into his chair this morning, savoring his coffee, he let out a soft sigh: “Well, I would normally be getting a card today.” His words were simple, yet they carried a weight of emotion that was impossible to ignore. In that moment, you could see the memories wash over him, and it was clear he truly missed those thoughtful gestures. We all feel that loss.

So today, take a moment to reflect on the people in your life who have made you smile, especially through the little things. Those cards weren’t just pieces of paper; they were tokens of love that hold lasting memories.

She was a great Aunt with a great soul. We will all miss those heartfelt cards. My grandma Mary Altman used to do this for Mt Calvary Baptist Church up until she got sick. We all knew when it was time to get one of those cards with cute stickers. I still miss mine today so instead I look from sweet little signs from Heaven.
