• “Falling for Ellijay: A Heartfelt Journey in the Apple Capital of Georgia”

This past weekend, Frankie and I had a wonderful trip to Ellijay, Georgia, known as the “Apple Capital of Georgia.” Located in the North Georgia mountains, Ellijay is about 90 minutes north of Atlanta and serves as the county seat of Gilmer County. The town is famous for its numerous apple orchards, apple-related events, and the annual Georgia Apple Festival. The leaves were beginning to change into their breathtaking fall colors of red, yellow, green, brown, and orange, which was a beautiful sight. We took full advantage of the opportunity to admire the foliage and paused to thank God for the beauty He has created around us. It’s not our…

  • “Small Acts, Big Impact: The Power of Lending a Hand”

In a world where we often take pride in being independent and getting things done on our own, it’s important to remember that everyone has their moments of vulnerability. Whether it’s a little health hiccup or just a tough day, having someone who not only can help but genuinely wants to can make all the difference. It’s often in those little, everyday interactions that we find a deeper sense of compassion and connection. I feel so fortunate to have my daughter living nearby. She’s always willing to lend a hand, even with her mom! We have a fun little inside joke where she calls me “The Sniper” because I can…

  • Beauty in the Mundane

Not every day is extraordinary; some are filled with routine tasks. However, these tasks can hold significant value. Instead of viewing them as mundane, let’s recognize the importance of our everyday chores and appreciate the stability they bring to our lives. By doing so, we can cultivate a sense of gratitude and purpose in our daily routines. I got in a little “sneaky” birthday shopping!

  • “The Missing Birthday Card”

Isn’t it funny how the smallest things can hold the greatest meaning? Sometimes, we don’t realize the power of a simple card until it’s no longer there. If you’re from the Brantley County area, chances are you’ve been touched by one of Diane’s heartfelt cards at some point. For her, sending cards wasn’t just a habit; it was a genuine expression of love and affection. Be it your birthday, your anniversary, or just a day when you needed a little pick-me-up, Diane was always there in spirit, reminding you that you mattered. Tomorrow marks Frankie’s birthday. As he settled into his chair this morning, savoring his coffee, he let out…

  • Nostalgia at Southern Baptist Church Homecomings

Do you remember going to good ole southern Baptist church homecomings? For many of us, these gatherings were more than just church events; they were a tapestry of memories woven with laughter, love, and community spirit. Homecoming Sundays were occasions to reconnect, reflect, and celebrate the bonds that stretched beyond the walls of the church. As a child, the anticipation of homecoming brought an exhilarating thrill. The congregation buzzed with excitement as everyone prepared their favorite dishes to share. The aroma of fried chicken, homemade macaroni and cheese, and decadent desserts wafted through the air, inviting friends and family to gather around the potluck tables. Each dish held a story,…

  • #Agree to Disagree: Embracing Dialogue Over Division

In today’s polarized society, engaging in conversations with differing views can be challenging. Figures like Charlie Kirk, a Christian conservative political activist, exemplify the importance of dialogue over division. His approach highlights a key principle: you don’t resort to hostility simply because you disagree. Agreeing to disagree is not just a saying; it signifies a commitment to engage respectfully, even during tough discussions. It invites us to foster understanding without conflict. Sharing Jesus is about embodying His message of love and compassion, encouraging respectful engagement amidst differing opinions. As we encounter those with opposing views, let’s focus on civil discourse. We can challenge ideas without attacking individuals, acknowledging that every…
