• Giving Thanks and Counting My Blessings

It’s early Saturday morning. I am upstairs in my “creative space” and my mind is running in 100 different directions. Frankie left early today, and Charlotte is with her parents so the house is quiet, and I can take time to reflect. I opened my windows and let the crisp, refreshing morning draft in. It immediately delivers me out of my slumber and opens my mind to higher thoughts. All I can hear is the neighborhood melody of roosters crowing, beagles chasing rabbits, and a distant train whistle blowing at the Shumaker and Ed Harrell crossings. I feel so in tune with my spiritual side in the early morning hours.…

  • She was One Tough Lady!

How do you say goodbye to your mother? She has been with you your entire life. She is the very fiber that you are made of. She gave you life and all the essentials of who you are. So lets go back about 75 years ago. Sandra Faye Cason was the 2nd of 4 children born to Randall and Edna Cason back in the early 40’s. She was raised in a farming family that mostly resided in Pierce County Georgia. She was raised up to be a hard worker who took good care of her family. I have heard it quoted by one of her brothers that when she was…

  • Recovering from a crashed hard drive

Let me start by saying that my computer’s hard drive crashed about a month ago. I have since had one reinstalled but I was not able to salvage any of my programs or data files. My first thought was okay, no big deal. But, I quickly realized how all my day to day details are gone….gone forever(sad face). You see, I am a planner / organizer. I get such a huge rush in planning out my days, weeks, and months right down to the hour. I love to have a piece of paper in my hand at the end of a day that is covered in check marks. I can…

  • Garden Maintenance

I got up this morning feeling “Fine and Dandy” and was anxious to get busy. My Saturdays mostly consist of outside chores, cleaning porches, mowing the grass, flower bed maintenance, gardens, pool, cleaning vehicles etc…. I stepped outside with my coffee and oh my did it feel wonderful. It was overcast, cool, and a light breeze blowing. Perfect for all things outside. After making a quick assessment of all that needed to be done, I settled on tidying up the garden. It was long past producing and was in dire need of some attention, especially if I want to put some fall crops in. I wish I had gotten a…

  • Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice!

“Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him”  Psalm 127:3  Can I say that this girl right here brings so much joy to  my heart.  She is a true gift from God.  I pray daily that I can help teach her about the things in life that truly matter. So, to give you a little back story, my daughter was in her late 20’s and had not had any children yet. She actually told me that “she wasn’t interested in bringing children into this world in the state that it is in”.  I was secretly (well, maybe not so secretely) disappointed.  But, I accepted it.  I…
